As the world is celebrating the festivities, Victoria forest (Grampians National park) is grappling for survival. The recent Grampian fire has left a trail of destruction and devastation in its wake, displacing countless individuals, causing irreparable loss, and inflicting significant damage on the environment.

It is said to have gulp an estimated 75,000 hectares, which is the size of Singapore and out of it, 15,000 was a private property with about 163 people seeking assistance at relief centers as at the time of composing this, according to the Victoria's emergency management commissioner Rick Nugent.

The fire will continue for weeks as the wind continues to change over the coming days and weeks. As the full extent of the damage becomes clear, it is imperative that we acknowledge the role of climate change in exacerbating this disaster and take immediate action to prioritize its mitigation.

Emergency services are balling multiple fires in the Alpine National Park area after dry lightning sparked around 250 strikes across the state, leading to several fires. Victoria experienced one of the worst fire days in years, with temperature climbing to 40 degrees in parts of the state. The heat was paired with severe and damaging winds, with some peak gusts of 100km/h recorded, creating dangerous conditions.

There's is also been livestock losses, crop losses, powerlines and all the environmental damage that has occurred as a result.
