Tasneem Goga

Tasneem Goga is a dedicated environmental researcher and graduate student of Geography and Environmental Science at the University of the Western Cape. Her work is deeply rooted in the intersections of sustainability, community engagement, and environmental policy. With a background in both academic tutoring and applied environmental work, Tasneem has cultivated a unique blend of analytical and communication skills—enabling her to translate complex environmental issues into accessible insights that resonate with a wide audience.

Professionally, Tasneem currently serves as an Environmental Assistant at Redco Services, where she contributes to research and spatial data generation using GIS tools. Her earlier roles—including a stint in environmental radio content production and graduate academic support—reflect a consistent commitment to public awareness and education. Her Honours research, titled “A Devil in the Deep Water: An Analysis of the Contestations Surrounding Western Cape Seismic Surveys,” marked her early foray into the contentious dialogue between environmental justice and energy development in South Africa.

Tasneem’s passion for impactful storytelling found a meaningful outlet through her involvement with Climate Change Writers South Africa, where she joined the team as a researcher in early 2025. During her time with the initiative, she authored in-depth features addressing some of the country's most pressing climate concerns—from the ecological damage of fast fashion to the legal and ethical dilemmas of seismic surveys. Her articles combined rigorous research with a bold, persuasive voice—driving public dialogue and media visibility on these complex issues.

As a researcher within the Climate Change Writers network, Tasneem brought clarity, curiosity, and care to every project she contributed to. Her ability to work across formats—from academic-style briefs to editorial storytelling—helped bridge the gap between environmental science and community discourse. Her work not only added value to the platform’s mission but also spotlighted key environmental challenges facing South Africa today.
